The tourism sector in the Great Island affected by strike Air Madagascar

The strike of Air Madagascar which began in mid-June has hit the tourism sector in the Great Island. According to tour operators, the island of St. Mary was down 75% on particular figures expected in the last Festival of Whales (4-12 July).
The region of Nosy Be has also been affected with 15 % of tourists less and the south of the Great Island has seen a 54% drop in tourist arrivals in its territory.
In 2014, some 220,000 tourists visited Madagascar, against 400,000 travelers registered in 2009. It is to be remembered that 255,942 tourists were accommodated in Madagascar in 2012, nearly 29 % went to the island of Nosy Be, and about 198,816 visitors have traveled to the Great Island in 2013.
