The IOC wants to promote the creation of a company of regional airline
The Indian Ocean commission (COI) intends to promote the creation of an airline service of islands of its Member States through a regional airline.

The IOC wants to work with the "vanilla island" (Reunion, Mauritius, Comoros, Seychelles and Madagascar) for the beginning of this strategic axis of this strategic regional airline, as related lexpress.mu.

"It is not normal to pay so much to visit nearby islands. Aviation companies should be able to mutualise their resources to offer cheaper lines. From my point of view, it is not a wacky idea", said the general secretary of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), Jean-Claude of Estrac.

Jean-Claude of Estrac already declared in July 2012 that "the complexes of national pride, the obsolete considerations have produced in our region five airlines: Air Madagascar, Air Seychelles, Air Austral, Air Comores and Air Mauritius. Four of them are largely in deficit. The Fifth, Air Comores, has disappeared. Is it not time that the four unprofitable companies constitute a company, Air Indian Ocean, for example, profit marketing, solid and strategically useful for the intraregional economic activity, tourism and external communications of all Indian ocean? ".
