Seychelles: Strategic commercial agreement between Air Seychelles and Cathay Pacific Airways

Air Seychelles has reached in late November last a strategic business agreement via a codeshare * with the national airline of Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways, which allows it to densify its network to Asia and Australia.

Under the terms of the agreement, the national airline of Seychelles can now place its code "HM" on weekly flights from Cathay Pacific Airways including five routes between Hong Kong and Perth, six rotations between Hong Kong and Melbourne and Seoul and three flights per week flying from Johannesburg to Hong Kong.

At the same time, Cathay Pacific Airways affix its international flight code on six flights per week between Air Seychelles archipelago and Hong Kong, and also two weekly rotations from Victoria to Abu Dhabi.

(*) The sharing of code share is based on commercial agreements between different airlines.

The codeshare flights or joint operation is a cooperation between airlines which allows the operation of a destination by several carriers.

One airline is responsible for conducting direct flight and another company, his partner on the destination, has the right to sell seats on this flight with its own international airline code.
