Seychelles: Slight decrease in tourist arrivals in the archipelago

While 16.521 holidaymakers had visited Seychelles in January 2014, including notably 2.317 Russian tourists (32% vs. January 2013), the archipelago of Seychelles hosted until June 29 last 110.494 travellers against 111.814 visitors registered for the same calendar period in 2013.

The Seychelles Tourist Office officials explain this slight decrease by a lack of direct flights to the archipelago, which has negatively impacted the tourists coming especially from European market and the Gulf countries.

For their part, Chinese tourists landed increasingly more in the Seychelles, with growth estimated at more than 117% for the first half semester.

Tourists have on the other hand increased their budget expenditures during their stay in the archipelago.

As a reminder, 230.272 tourists visited Seychelles in 2013, that is, an increase of 11% over the previous year.
