Seychelles: President James Michel defends the blue economy and the concept of the vanilla Islands at the conference on Small Island developing States

In conjunction with the work of the third international conference on small island developing States, and held in Apia, capital of the independent State of Samoa, from 1 to 4 September 2014, president of Seychelles James Michel, had personally defend the blue economy development and sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources with including the Director-general of the United Nations food and agriculture (Organization FAO), José Graziano Da Silva.
 
The seychellois president, James Michel, could also discuss the advantages of the concept of the Vanilla Islands with the president of Zanzibar Ali Mohamed Shein, as reported by Seychelles News Agency.
 
As a reminder, the vanilla Islands advocate since their inception in August 2010 the repositioning of the Indian Ocean as a tourist destination and the cohesion of these countries around this common objective.
 
Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros, Mayotte and the Maldives want to have greater visibility by bringing together diverse strengths within a same structure regional tourist-oriented.
 
The tourist sector creator of direct and indirect jobs, real perennial lever of growth, is the basis of development initiated by the vanilla Islands.
