Seychelles: Ban on imports of aquarium fish for fear of a killer mushroom

The Seychellois authorities have recently decided to ban the import of aquarium fish.

As very often their owners subsequently discharge into streams and rivers. And fear of a parasite killer known as the as "chytrid mushroom" conveyed by aquarium fish might threaten the endemic amphibians of the archipelago term.
As a reminder, the Seychelles identify six endemic species of frogs, such as in particular the Sooglossid, which are the smallest frogs listed throughout the world, and seven species of legless amphibians and living in the islands of Mahé, Praslin and Silhouette.
