Researchers as part of the Society of conservation of Seychelles have rediscovered last August, on the uninhabited island of Malabar, a specimen of the species of snail Aldabra that scientists believed extinct since 1997, due to climate change and a strong decrease in rainfall, as reported by the Mauritian newspaper L'Express.

As a reminder, the Malabar Island is the second largest of four islands composing the Seychellois atoll of Aldabra, located in the Western Indian Ocean and southwest of the island of Mahé.
