Rodrigues on its knees after the passage of the cyclone Amara

Shows of desolation prevailing in Rodrigues after the passage of the cyclone Amara which held spellbound the island for three days. Tremendous damages were reported as soon as the class 4 alert has been removed last Saturday.
 
The electricity network was seriously damaged following the strong gusts exceeding the 152 km/h. Teams of the Central Electricity Board (CEB) and Special Mobile Force (SMF) of Mauritius lend strong hands to the authorities and the inhabitants in the reparations of the island.
The telephone network was also affected. According to the CEB, 12,000 homes were without electricity as indicated by the L'Express Dimanche newspaper.
 
Devastated plantations, damaged shopping and infrastructure, several destroyed houses, uprooted trees, impassable roads, flooded riffles, are among others the damage left by the intense tropical cyclone. Rodrigues is for the moment under reconstruction.
