Pravind Jugnauth found guilty of conflict of interests in the MedPoint case

Magistrates Niroshini Ramsoondar and Azam Neerooa of the Intermediate Court have declared this Tuesday June 30, Pravind Jugnauth guilty of conflict of interests in the case of MedPoint clinic. The pleadings about the sentence will be held on Thursday.
Pravind Jugnauth, Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, who is also the head of the MSM currently in power in Mauritius has announced his intention to appeal the ruling.
"I was not expecting this; I intend to appeal, I do disagree", he asserted as he was leaving the court. He was charged with conflict of interest in the acquisition of MedPoint clinic by the government to the cost of 144.7 million rupees *.
The anti-corruption commission accused him of having given his approval in December 2010, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to the redemption of the clinic. His sister was at that time a shareholder in the clinic and his brother-in-law director of the institution.
