The President of the Republic, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, received the Letters of Credence from the new Ambassador of South Africa, Maud Vuyelwa Dlomo, at Iavoloha Palace, on 9th February.
During their meeting, the South African Ambassador recalled the links between the two countries, especially since the struggle for the abolition of apartheid, Madagascar’s support of which is well recognised. At that time, several members of South Africa’s current governing class were in exile in Madagascar.
Now, it’s a matter of reinforcing the relationship between the two countries. As a member of SADC South Africa particularly intends to contribute to reinforcing Madagascar’s stability, to aid with economic growth and for this reason particular attention will be paid to capacity growth.
