The new Ambassadors of China, Brazil and Mali accredited to Madagascar, H.E. Yang Xiaorong, H.E. Rodrigo De Lima Baena Soares and H.E. Mahamane Aoudou Cisse, presented their credential letters in turn on the 25 February, at the State Palace of Iavoloha, to the President of the Republic of Madagascar Hery Rajaonarimampianina. For Yang Xiaorong, the new diplomatic representative of China, her aim is to further strengthen the cooperation and friendship between the two countries, as China gives great importance to relations with Madagascar. “Despite the geographic distance between the two countries, the people of China and Madagascar are linked by an old friendship and relations between the two countries have developed rapidly,” she said. The importance that China accords to Madagascar shows a willingness to work in conjunction to further strengthen the mutually advantageous cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
As for relations with Brazil, the new Ambassador, H.E. Rodrigo De Lima Beana Soares, stated: “Brazil and Madagascar have forged diplomatic relations since 1996, and the two countries each have good prospects for developing their relations in many areas, particularly in agriculture and energy. New agricultural projects will soon be discussed with the Minister of Agriculture of Madagascar to mark the cooperation between the two countries.”
Lastly, after presenting his credentials, H.E. Mahamane Aoudou Cisse said that the cooperation between Mali and Madagascar is still in its early days and there is a cooperation framework governing the relations between the two countries. The task is, therefore, to flesh out this pre-existing cooperation framework. This framework is primarily based on the friendship between the two peoples, and will go on to put these relations into practice in specific areas, such as education, mining, transportation and other areas that are still to be determined.
When thanking each new ambassador from China, Brazil and Mali, President Hery Rajaonarimampianina expressed his hope for the strengthening of friendship and fraternal ties with the respective peoples and the governments of the three countries, Madagascar's partners and friends.
