Mayotte: Naturalists want to suppression as early as possible the use of plastic bags on the island

To curb the pollution caused by plastic bags, Mayotte had been one of the first departments to prohibit the use of their uses in the distribution in 2006.
The prohibition has thus reduced the environmental impact of their effects on the island.
However, the use of disposable plastic bags, such as those for fruits and vegetables is still valid, as reported in the Journal of Mayotte.
The President of Naturalists, Michel Charpentier, highlights today and asked the prefect to prohibit "as soon as possible the use of all plastic bags" and proposes to replace it with "alternative containers among distributors," while the National Assembly officially recorded the definitive abolition of plastic bags from 1 January 2016.
