Mayotte: 350 marine turtles lost their lives on the Mahoran beaches, 80% victims of poaching

The Mahoran network of marine mammals and marine turtles (REMMAT) recently accounted 350 dead hawksbill turtles, 80% have been subjected to poaching on the island of perfumes in 2014, as reported by the Journal de Mayotte.
The beaches welcome Mahoran annually about 2,000 marine turtles come to lay their eggs in the sand.
Poaching of marine turtles in Mayotte is punishable by a sentence of at least one year of imprisonment and subject to a fine of 15,000 euro.
