Mauritius wants to launch a regional airline with the support of China
The Mauritian authorities are seriously considering to create a new regional airline with the help of their Chinese counterparts to serve the islands of the Indian Ocean and the East African countries.

A strategic agreement to develop an air project has already recorded between China and Mauritius.

"We asked China to help us in this direction. There is considerable potential in terms of tourists. But to create and operate an airline is not as easy. That is why we want to do a study to see if this would be really viable",  said the Foreign Minister of Mauritius Arvin Boolell to newspaper Le Défi Quotidien.

The Mauritian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arvin Boolell, does not however close the door to the effective support of the other countries of the Indian Ocean region and a possible public-private partnership on the subject also closes.

To recap, Jean-Claude de l'Estrac, general secretary of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) launched several months the idea of such a regional airline.
