Mauritius wants to develop the cruise sector

The port authorities of Mauritius want to see at least 20,000 cruise disembark in Port Louis on the horizon of 2017.
18 cruise ships docked in Mauritius throughout 2014. 15,661 tourists and tour passengers were on board.
Thus, the Italian group Costa Cruises has already programmed the doubling of these trips at the heart of the Indian Ocean, from six cruises the previous year to twelve cruises scheduled in two years. Nine cruise stopovers in Mauritius generate 500 million rupees * for the Mauritian economy.
The Mauritian authorities thus wish together with the Vanilla islands to strengthen this activity in the sector and to attract in the Indian Ocean Zone other reputable companies, such as Carnival Cruise Lines, the world leader in maritime cruise market and whose fleet includes 21 ships.
