Mauritius tops the ranking of Africa in terms of good governance for the eighth consecutive year, according to the latest ranking of the 2014 Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which evaluates 52 African countries.
Four criteria are taken into account in this classification: security and the rule of law, citizen participation and human rights, sustainable human development and economic development.
By winning 81.7 points out of 100, Mauritius is well ahead of Cape Verde, Botswana and South Africa, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
In Africa, the average ratings stood at 51.5 Points
