Mauritius: peaceful march against biomedical research on monkeys in the island
The group against animal testing in Mauritius, "No to Animal Experiments in Mauritius", organized a peaceful march tomorrow, Saturday, from 11:00 to Jardin de la Compagniein Port-Louis, to oppose the  draft law of Pre-Clinical Research Bill introduced by the Government of Mauritius and allowing medical experiments on monkeys can now be performed on the island.

The group has already sent last month, a letter to Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam and specifically asked not to submit the Apes "to unnecessary cruelty" and withdraw this bill.

As a reminder, Mauritius is the second largest exporter after China of macaques used for experiments of all kinds in the European and American laboratories for biomedical research.

Mauritian authorities want the draft lawPre-Clinical Research Bill, consistently develop this industry locally, as shown in the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
