Mauritius: one high school student on two absent in the second quarter to take private courses
While the second quarter is barely half of its periodicity, the students at the end of secondary education of HSC (Higher School Certificate) and also those attending the SC (School Certificate) are less frequent in classes.

According to internal figures for schools, one high school student on two in average has been absent in the second quarter, whereas traditionally this disaffection courses is in full swing only during the third quarter.

For Madoo Ramjee, director of an institution in Beau Bassin, in the center of Mauritius, adolescents who no longer attend schools, prefer to prepare for final exams of the year by following particularly private tuition, as shown in the newspaper Lexpress of Mauritius.

Informed of the situation, the Minister of Education, Vasant Bunwaree intends to make arrangements to curb student absenteeism by asking school principals of the island, a statement of the day of absentees.
