Mauritius on the high step of the African podium for investment in Vietnam
According to the Department of foreign investment of the Ministry of planning and investment of Vietnam, the country has received in its territory for the first six months of the year 2014 eight projects to investors from Africa and that drain in their wake some 30.3 million dollars of capital.
Mauritius has developed a project of 15 million dollars to Vietnam while that at the same time the Seychelles have engaged 15.1 million with 3 projects identified, and Nigeria, four for some 200,000 dollars.
Late June, nine African countries "have invested in Vietnam in 79 projects for 313 million dollars of capital", as indicated in the Africa Inside site.
Mauritius is thus positioned to Hanoi as the first investor in the black continent with 36 projects listed, concerning investments amounting in total to 250.2 million dollars.
Mauritius is committed among other areas of textile and garments, livestock, aquatic products processing and wood.
The Mauritian authorities also wish to sign a double taxation treaty with their Vietnamese counterparts to intensify trade flows of investment between Hanoi and Port-Louis.
At the level of bilateral trade, trade in 2013 between Mauritius and Vietnam to the tune of 120 million dollars, of which 72.7 million dollars relate to Vietnamese exports.
