Mauritius: more than 1,000 elderly people living alone could soon be equipped with an electronic bracelet with GPS device and warning system




Social security of Mauritius prepares to equip as early as next August, a thousand elderly people living alone on the island, a GPS device, electronic bracelet to which is added an emergency button.
 
The project which is currently in the preparatory phase of bidding will cost about 10 to 15 million rupees * social services of the island who even provided funding valued at 50 million rupees.
 
More than 1,000 elderly were identified upstream and might have - on the base of volunteering - this device monitoring and alert in case of problems at home, as reported by the newspaper Le Défi Quotidien.
