Mauritius launched its offensive on South African textile markets

Exports of Mauritius to Africa have experienced a net increase in activity over recent years despite the weakening of the South African rand against the Mauritian rupee for several months.
Enterprise Mauritius, the Agency in charge of promoting export of products of Mauritius on external markets, thus wants to revitalize the sector in South Africa by organizing a campaign to promote textile Mauritian from 9 to 24 June 2014 in the wake of the fairs in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Exports in value of textile from Mauritius to South Africa thus increased from 3.5 billion rupees * in 2010 to 6.7 billion rupees for the year 2012 and some 6 billion rupees in 2013.
For the first quarter of 2014, Mauritian textile on the South African market exports are valued at 1.5 billion rupees compared to 1.2 billion on the same calendar period of the previous year, a direct result of a weakened South African rand, as indicated in the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
