Mauritius: decrease of 3.4% of tourists in November
Mauritius has gone through a month of difficulty with a decrease in number of tourists arriving on the island, which has fallen up to 3.4 % compared to November 2011.

84.398 tourists came to Mauritius last month. The European market continues its fall initiated since last July with a decrease of 9.7% including 57,934 travelers from Europe against 64,185 in November 2011. Only the United Kingdom made it with an increase in attendance of 16.5%.  

Aggregated figures between January and November 2012 compared with those of 2011 are marked by a slight decrease of 0.3% with 849,976 holidaymakers listed. Europe shoved off 8.1%, with 500,273 arrivals last year against 544,451 for the same reference period.

The regional market shows positive results from January to November. Reunion Island increases its passengers to 22.2% with 119,558 tourists recorded in Mauritius. Madagascar follows the trend with an increase of 19.9% and 12,064 tourists’ arrivals.
At the global level, in the first 11 months of the year 2012, China with 19,066 visitors and an increase of 37.5%, India (49,317 visitors), Australia (15.266 tourists) as well as other markets (Russia, Canada, Emirates, Hong Kong) allow the Mauritius destination to maintain its tourist numbers.
