Mauritius classified as the most pacific country in Africa

The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has recently released its eighth ranked the most peaceful country with 162 nations disentangled via the application of twenty criteria.

Mauritius is thus positioned 24th globally for the year 2014, and won the first place on the African continent with a score of 1.544 points.

Following in second position in Africa Botswana with 1.678 points and Zambia that revolves around the 1.791 points.

As a reminder, the more index rating is not high, the further the country concerned is considered peaceful.

The 20 indicators are studied through three major themes, namely "the level of safety and security in societies, the scale of internal and external conflicts, and the degree of militarisation of each country", as reported in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
