Mauritius, capital of the Tamil diaspora in late July 2014




The Tamil diaspora organising a first international conference in Mauritius from 23 to 27 July 2014, with the objective of the promotion and preservation of their culture and their traditions.
 
The history of migration movements as well as the way of life of the Tamil diaspora spin-off to the four corners of the planet will be at the heart of the work, as indicated in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
 
More than a hundred representatives of 40 countries, which including India, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, United States, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, France, or even Hong Kong, are meeting at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Moka.
 
"The idea of this conference was conceived a year ago. The Tamil diaspora is a huge asset. The objective is to approximate the entire community of Tamil origin from different countries and create an interaction and solidarity between members. In addition, Mauritius wants to position itself as the capital of the diaspora", highlighted Armoogum Parsuramen, president of the International Tamil Diaspora Association.
