Mauritius approaches the threshold allowing it to be considered as a high-income country

While the Mauritian authorities have set 2020 course for the country joining the nations with high incomes, the per capita income rose sharply between 2005 and 2013 from 5,200 dollars to 9,300 dollars.
The threshold defined by the World Bank to being recognized as high-income countries is of 12,746 dollars per capita. Infrastructure development and improvement of health and education services will also be associated with the transition for Mauritius to a high income economy.
