The Water Resources Unit (WRU) will in the near future start construction works for the new reservoir at Rivière-du-Poste which will supply the biggest reservoir of Mauritius, , Mare-aux-Vacoas, via a supplementary waterway of about 30 meters, as indicated by the newspaper Le Matinal.

The works of the new reservoir that will be baptised Arnaud Dam, will cost around 240 million rupees (5.853.658 euros).

The new reservoir, Arnaud Dam, will thus allow to supply the Mare-aux-Vacoas, often victim in drought seasons of an important fall in water level, as in 2011 where the Mare-aux-Vacoas reservoir was filled with only 31, 9% of its capacity.
