Mauritius: Waste disposal trucks equipped with GPS system

The Ministry of the Regional Administrations of Mauritius works on the acquisition of a GPS system to locate and track the movement of the 182 vehicles used by the technical services of municipalities and the district councils of the island, including some 155 trucks of garbage collection.
The trucks and vehicles concerned will thus be followed instantly.
The GPS device will also establish a precise geographic record of infrastructure managed locally as secondary roads, the water drains and street lights.
Fuel consumption of vehicles will also be taken into account via a sensor for better expenditure management, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
