Mauritius: Violence in schools explodes
Violence in schools of Mauritius has in recent years increased dramatically.

Thus, according to figures published in a recent report of the Mauritius Council of Social Services (MACOSS), 125 cases of violence were recorded for the year 2012 against only 88 in 2010, 42% increase.

In addition, 25% of students also confessed of being "exposed to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes".

The MACOSS report also highlights that school violence are far from simple trivial quarrels, sometimes reaching alarming levels, with "threats, insults, assaults with weapons and other sexual violence"
