Mauritius: Tourist arrivals have low growth for the month of June 2013
While tourist arrivals in Mauritius had jumped by 4.5% in May 2013 compared to the same period in calendar 2012, foreign tourists for the month of June 2013 increased slightly by 0.7%.
Mauritius has thus seen disembark in the ground 55,007 tourists in June 2013 against 54,625 in June 2012, noted in its monthly report the official statistics of Statistics Mauritius.
Tourist arrivals from Africa and Asia are on the rise, each with an increase of 8.6% (16,553 visitors) and 5.9% (12,664 tourists).
South African travelers increased by 15.4% with 7820 tourists in June 2013 against 6,777 the previous year.
The Reunionese tourists are always more likely to travel to Mauritius, with 5,975 visitors from Reunion for the month of June.
From January to June 2013, Mauritius has received no less than 68 267 tourists from Reunion.
For their part, European vacationers during the month of June 2013 fell by 6.7% on the destination of Mauritius, with 22,889 visitors recorded during this period.
Russian and Indian markets are also affected by the decline.

Russian visitors unscrew the statistics of 57% in June (24.7% since the beginning of 2013) and Indian tourists experiencing the same trend with a decline of 5.6%, despite an increase of 8.4% for the first six months of 2013.
Chinese tourists also increased sharply in the figures, with a growth of 105.5%, with 2908 tourist arrivals in the month of June 2013 against 1415 tourists a year earlier.
Between January and June 2013, Mauritius hosted 471,664 tourists against 467,153, an increase of 1% over the same period in 2012.
