Mauritius: Tourism revenues up slightly relative to the increasing number of tourists landing on the island

Tourism revenues in Mauritius over the first four months of the year experienced a slight increase of 0.85% in one year, while at the same time the tourists are more likely to disembark in the island, has recently reported the Central Bank of Mauritius.
Between January and April 2015, it is thus 15.53 billion rupees * which have been locally generated against 15.4 billion rupees harvested on the same calendar period in 2014.
Yet the growth of tourism has shown an increase of 8.5% in one year, with 381 656 tourists that had arrived during the first four months of 2015 against 351,697 registered between January and April 2014.
The estimated revenue of the tourist sector in 2015 is expected to be close to the 48.5 billion rupees and representing about 11.7% of gross domestic product.
