Mauritius: Tobacco consumption declining, but still more than 1,000 smokers die each year

While cigarette smoking is declining in Mauritius, from 1.3 billion to 1.05 billion "grilled fags", tobacco still kills more than 1,000 smokers every year, according to a recent study conducted by the Department Health.

40% of men aged between 20 and 74 years, are addicted to nicotine, whereas in women, the rate is only 3.7%.
