Mauritius: The tourism authorities in advanced negotiations with the Swiss company Edelweiss

The Mauritian Minister of Tourism, Xavier-Luc Duval, recently confirmed that in addition to Austria and Germany, the authorities seek to bring back more Swiss tourists to Mauritius.
4.477 Swiss tourists have visited the island in January and February 2015.
Thus advanced discussions are currently underway with officials of the Swiss airline Edelweiss for possible flights as from 2016 for a service to the international airport Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam of Plaisance.
As a reminder, as from October, Austrian Airlines will perform two weekly flights to the island. The German airline, Lufthansa, also will connect Mauritius with a scheduled flight per week after 26 years of absence.
For its part, the German low-cost airline, Condor Airways, which depends on the tour operator Thomas Cook, will also operate a fifth weekly flight from the mid of this year to better serve the destination.
