Mauritius: The shattered dream of a young policeman

A police officer of 21 years died instantly on Sunday in the region of Vacoas, in Mauritius. The tragic accident occurred around 6 p.m. when his motorcycle was struck by the car of a doctor, not far from the traffic lights which were not working at the moment.
The young man was going to his work at the police station of Flic-en-Flac, a village on the West coast of the island.
After the accident, the doctor went to the local police station. The Breathalyzer practiced on him was proven negative. He responds to a provisional charge of manslaughter. The doctor was released on bail yesterday afternoon.

The policeman had two years of service within the police force. According to a member of his family, a career in the police force was the dream he
caressed since childhood as reported in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper. His funeral took place this morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of his family in Goodlands, in the North of the island.
