Mauritius: The seafood sector in full economic growth

The seafood sector, like tuna-processing industry has attracted in its wake in 2013 some 22 billion rupees * income at the heart of the economy of Mauritius.
The Mauritian seafood sector is in full growth representing on the island last year 1.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
The sector, which has approximately 6,000 employees exported on foreign markets (Europe, USA) sea products processed for an approximate value of more than 12 billion rupees in 2013.
Exports to the U.S. rose 31% in one year compared with the figures recorded in 2012.
Mauritius also exports of seafood products processed in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and France, as shown in the Le Matinal newspaper.
* One euro roughly equivalent to 41 rupees
