Mauritius: The sale of cigarettes declined in 2014 on the island

* A recent study on cigarette consumption in Mauritius revealed, with a rise of more than 10% of the tobacco end of 2013, that nicotine addicts have bought fewer cigarettes in 2014 with a registered decrease 3.4% on the market.
The study also provides a significant decrease of about 21% from the sale of cigarettes on the island by 2023 relative to 2013, with 880 million of cigarettes that will not be toasted.
As a reminder, in 2011, 1.09 billion cigarettes were smoked in Mauritius against 978 million for 2012. Tobacco still kills over 1,000 smokers each year in Mauritius.
40% of men aged between 20 and 74 years, are addicted to nicotine, while in women, the rate is only 3.7%.
