Mauritius: The price of tomatoes rose sharply due to the rains and a viral disease

After recent episodes of heavy rainfall that lashed on Mauritius, the price of half kilo of tomatoes is now sold on the market stalls between 40 and 70 rupees *.
In addition, rainfall that devastated agricultural fields, tomatoes are also affected by the so-called mosaic disease related to a pathogenic virus which negatively impact the growth of tomatoes grown on the island.
* One euro roughly equivalent to 40 rupees
