Mauritius: The police on ground to deal with noise pollution




With the number of noise complaints filed mostly in the coastal region of Flic-en-Flac, the Mauritian authorities have decided to undertake from 12 December a hit operation.
For this festive period, partygoers are at the rendez vous of noisy nights and loud music decibels.
 
The towns of Blue Bay and Pointe-d'Esny will also be targeted. Police and agents of the Environment will be deployed in the field to measure the volume of decibels and report lawbreakers.
 
According to Mauritian law, from 7.00 to 18:00 the music volume should not exceed 60 decibels, 18 to 21 hours, 55 decibels and from 21:00 to 6 h00, 50 decibels.
 
The fine can reach 100,000 rupees * for violations.
