Mauritius: The old ID card is still valid until the end of March 2015

The Council of Ministers has decided late last week the extension of the validity of the old national identity card, which was to end on 31 December 2014. This will be valid until 31 March 2015.
The new elected government is in anticipation of a judgment of the Supreme Court.
The * Le Peuple alliance, winner of the last legislative elections, had also publicly committed during the campaign to erase all data stored and recorded the new biometric card.
As a reminder, the new Mauritian biometric ID card is designed polycarbonate and personalised with data and graphics laser engraved. Include encrypted in the chip in addition to the medical record holder, marital status, identity number, last name, first name, family name at birth, sex, date of birth, photograph, fingerprints of the thumb and index finger, residential address and a digital certificate.
