Mauritius: The municipal elections has been fixed, a poll before the month of Ramadan

The Lepep alliance * in power in Mauritius since December 2014 and led by the Prime Minister Sir Anerood Jugnauth, should recall voters to the polls in the five cities of the country for an early municipal elections which would be held most probably in mid -May or early June, 2015.
The Mauritian government would like the vote be held before the fasting month of Ramadan scheduled in mid-June in Mauritius and thus benefit from the favorable opinion of a majority of the population for his work at the head of the country after more than 100 days in office.
Enough to seriously hinder the opposition parties with a Mouvement Militant Mauricien struggling to internal power, with a leader Paul Bérenger challenged internally and Labour Party (Ptr) still shaken by the electoral slap of the last general elections and badly shaken by cases related to former Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.
As a reminder, the last municipal elections took place in December 2012 and the mandate of elected municipal officials must come to an end by the end of the year 2018.
* The Lepep alliance brings together the Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM), PMSD (Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate) and Mouvement Libérateur (ML)
