Mauritius: The month of August, one of the coldest months of the calendar

While several cold waves in the wake of strong anticyclones have brought last month in full austral winter windy weather and intermittent rainfall in Mauritius, statistics of the weather service station of Vacoas highlighted that the month August remains one of the coldest months of the calendar with the month of July.
Thus, between 1971 and 2000, the average temperatures recorded for August is 25.9 degrees Celsius in the north, 23.8 degrees Celsius in the East, 24.2 degrees Celsius in the South and 21.8 degrees Celsius in the center of the Mauritius.
The windy weather also gives the impression that it's colder than the temperatures indicated by the thermometer, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
As a reminder, in late July the thermometer has fallen on the heights of the island with a mercury which displayed by regions between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius. And gusts of order of 90km/h has been registered locally in most exposed regions.
