Mauritius: The husband of the Irish tourist murdered in January 2011 returns to the island for the lawsuit filed at the direction of the hotel by the family of Michaela Harte
The murder of the Irish tourist of 28 years, Michaela Harte, found strangled in room 1025 of the former Legends hotel at Grand Gaube, today known as Lux hotel, returns to the front of the judicial stage.

The husband of the victim, John McAreavey is thus present in Mauritius during the lawsuit filed to the former hotel Legends and his leadership in the Supreme Court of Mauritius, October 17, by the family of Michaela Harte.

John McAreavey and five other members of the Harte family, whose father and mother of Michaela Harte, now claim compensation, as related by the newspaper The Daily Challenge.

By way of the damages and interest, the clan of Harte-McAveavey claims 65 million rupees, or 1.6 million euro.

The majority of this money will be reinvested in the creation of a charitable foundation on behalf of Michaela Harte to help needy children.

As a reminder, heavenly honeymoon of the McAreavey spouses within a floret of Mauritian luxury hotel had turned into a nightmare in January 2011.
Coming back unexpectedly to get cakes for her tea in her room the young Briton fell nose to nose with one or more of her attackers, who left her no chance of escape.

Two employees were immediately charged in the early hours of the investigation.

However, doubt has hovered heavily throughout their 7-week trial in July 2012, with at least one of the defendants who had partially admitted his involvement, according to police brutality during tight interrogations.

A court of popular justice of Mauritius acquitted the suspects, with a bitter taste verdict for the family of Michaela Harte in Mauritius and welcomed by cheers and jibes.
