Mauritius: The former Vice Prime Minister arrested before obtaining conditional release

The former Minister of Transport and Public Infrastructure, and former Vice Prime Minister, Anil Bachoo, has been the subject of an arrest this Thursday morning in the wake of the Betamax case involving the chartering of oil products consigned from India for a contract of 10 billion rupees. *
Prosecuted for conspiracy and suspected to have influenced a civil servant in the attribution of a public contract, Anil Bachoo appeared in Port Louis court in early afternoon, prior to being conditionally released. He must nevertheless pay a bail 50,000 rupees and an acknowledgment of debt of 500,000 rupees.
