Mauritius: The dollar increasingly strong against the rupee the prices are expected to increase in April

The Mauritian rupee has lost its value between January and March 2015 against the dollar.

The greenback is currently exchange at about 35.25 rupees against 32.25 rupees in the first days of January, a 10% depreciation of the Mauritian rupee against the dollar.
A strong dollar against the Mauritian rupee should automatically drain in its wake higher import prices and higher priced products in the month of April for Mauritian consumers. The price of rice, dried beans, oil as well as meat prices has especially been impacted.
