Mauritius: The controversial video of Cheerleaders visiting on the island of Diego Garcia to entertain the American troops

Several amateur videos are circulating on the Web and show the heavenly life of American soldiers, as they describe it themselves, on the island of Diego Garcia.

In the heart of the ultra secure strategic military area, some engage including in portions of fishing in a carefree and joyous atmosphere.

The newspaper Le Défi Quotidien thus highlighted a controversial video online in January 2012 and following the arrival on the atoll of eight beautiful cheerleaders come locally entertained U.S. troops.

As a reminder, the Chagos Archipelago had been stripped from 1965 to 1973 of all its inhabitants to set up US military bases including in Diego Garcia, Main Island of the archipelago, occupied by about 5,000 soldiers U.S.

1.786 Chagossians were forced to hastily leave their native island for Mauritius.

The Mauritian Government claims for decades the sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago and the law of the Chagossians to live there freely.

British would thus also become pressure according to the President of the Republic, Kailash Purryag, on the Mauritian delegation which negotiated the independence of the country acquired in 1968.

'They threatened the Mauritian delegation by saying that if it did not sign, it returned to the country without independence', said Kailash Purryag late October 2013.
