The construction of the first wind farm located in Plaine-des-Roches, in the North of Mauritius, is scheduled to start next May.
Two power plants of 9.35 megawatts and 8.1 megawatts for a total investment of 32 million euro and will emerge at the initiative of the Sugar Investment Trust (SIT) and the French group quadrant, one of the leaders in the production of green energy in France.
The first production unit should be operational by April 2015.
Electricity will then be sold to the national company of electricity in Mauritius (CEB) to power its network, as shown in the newspaper L'Express o Mauritius.
As a reminder, the CEB wants to introduce in its network by 2015 participate in renewable energies (photovoltaic and wind) to the tune of 60 megawatts, and this, the project of Maurice île Durable (MID) initiated by the authorities since 2008.
Eventually, the CEB officials want to get 35% of electricity generated from renewable energies, and this, by 2025.
