Mauritius: The cold and hunger kill three homeless people in five days

While temperatures are well below the seasonal average of the austral winter, a persistent cold hard hit some parts of Mauritius in June, with a sharp drop of mercury recorded.
Between 9 and 13 June, three elderly homeless between 50 and 62 years old thus have died, victims of cold and hunger at, Flacq, Curepipe and St. Paul, according to the different autopsy reports.
According to official figures from Statistics Mauritius, Mauritius accounts for thirty homeless families.
Two night shelters in Port-Louis and Saint-Jean are open and receive 80 homeless every night, as indicated by the newspaper Défi Quotidien.
