To halt the erosion that eats the beach Poudre d'Or, in the north-east of Mauritius, the authorities have engaged nearly $ 17.8 million rupees (456,000 euro) so that the extent the beach regains its original appearance.

The Ministry of Environment in charge of the project really wishes to beautify the places and drain in the wake of the work, which began in December, many picnickers on the site.


The inhabitants of the village of Poudre d'Or favorably welcome the beautification project of the beach which should be completed in a few months.

On an area of ​​250 meters, the casuarinas were uprooted and stone cladding has been applied, as indicated by the newspaper Lexpress of Mauritius.
