Mauritius: The Terre Rouge-Verdun highway problem resolved through a solution imported from Reunion

While a large landslides has occurred during the night of June 23 on the Terre Rouge-Verdun highway, strategic road linking the center of Mauritius to the North of the country and that the highway is still closed since then to automobile traffic, the Mauritian Ministry of Public Infrastructure would explore the possibility of setting up a device commonly used in Reunion.
Trees planted on the slopes via an envelope of plants serving as a "membrane" make it possible to hold the soil and ensure that the land do not become unstable after heavy rains.
A South African expertise is also being conducted to find a solution before reopening this stretch of highway.
