Mauritius: The Stock Exchange, an alternative for companies to raise capital

While the main index SEMDEX calculated on all shares listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius has lost 3.8% (1) since the beginning of of 2015, the Mauritian stock market continues nonetheless over the past years to position itself as an alternative solution to bank loans for businesses.
In 2010, these have risen approximately 6.7 billion rupees (2) on the stock market. In 2013, this figure had increased to 23.3 billion rupees prior to being close to 25.1 billion rupees at the end of 2014.
That way since 2010, the total amount of the capital raised on the Mauritian stock market amounted to almost 66.1 billion rupees.
