Mauritius: The Mauritian offshore booming

According to latest figures, the activities of the Mauritian offshore financial center enumerated in late April 2015 22.683 companies, including about 1,000 companies that have been thus created during the first four months of 2015.
10,580 offshore companies and held a GBL1 license (a) while 11,193 companies were in possession of a GBL2 license (b) to operate. The investment funds represented on their side 910 entities.
(a) The GBL1 (Global Business Licence Company 1) is a corporation resident for tax benefiting from the double taxation. Companies with GBC1 license are compelled to work outside the borders of Mauritius, although some transactions similar to their main activities can be made via the local residents.
(b) GBC2 (Global Business Licence Company 2) an exempted tax corporation, but does not have access to contract benefits. The corporation may exercise most of the commercial activities, except for banking and financial services, the nominee services, administrator, secretarial and guardianship. The GBC 2 must state a head office and a representative in Mauritius.
